Are you participating in economic abundance? Creating abundance starts on the inside.
It seems that everywhere I turn lately I see the mentality of lack. There aren’t enough jobs, people don’t have enough money and people aren’t spending enough money. The media’s coverage of the economic situation in the U.S. has simply increased fear and made things worse. It is a fact, the U.S. is in economic downturn. The question is, do you choose to participate?
I want to tell you a story about my adorable dog Zoe. She is sweet and lovable, and most of all she makes me laugh. Now around me and my family, and in her regular routine Zoe is happy and friendly. However, if one object or person, enters Zoe’s environment that is unfamiliar, Zoe will, without hesitation, attack.
Zoe is fear aggressive. Anything that Zoe is afraid of (which is anything or anyone new) Zoe will attack. She attacks the lawn mower, cars, and the boxes with the Christmas lights that we brought in from the garage last night. When she first arrived at my house from the local animal shelter she attacked the arm chair, the cats, the other dogs, and my father’s feet. I literally kept her attached to me at all times, her leash was attached to my belt.
I officially adopted Zoe in February of 2007 after having fostered her for the Austin Sheltie Rescue for 6 months prior. Zoe was around 2 years old when I got her and all I know about her was that she had been left in the overnight drop area at Town Lake Animal Shelter in Austin. No one knows what Zoe’s life was like before she came to me. The shelter described her as unpredictable and in a way they were right. It’s difficult to tell what Zoe will attack. What is predictable is that she will attack anything that she is afraid of.
It’s been close to 2 years since I adopted Zoe and I can guarantee that she has nothing to be afraid of in her life. The lawn mower isn’t going to attack her, the cats couldn’t care less about her, except that she still goes after them from time to time, and the people we bring into our house are perfectly safe. Zoe is perfectly safe from everything she attacks. It is her perception of those things as a threat that cause her to fearfully attack them. She will continue to respond the same way until her perceptions change.
So what does Zoe’s story have to do with you and the economy? The economy is what it is, it is your perception of the economy and the effect it has on you that determines what happens in your life.
The question is do you participate in a recession or do you choose instead to participate in economic abundance? The choice is yours.
Now, if you choose to participate in economic abundance than it’s time to start creating abundance in your own life. However, if you simply start trying to change your outside world your going to end up experiencing difficulty. Your outer life is a reflection of your inner life. So if you’ve been feeling the effects of the recession in your own life and you want to change that, you’re going to have to start on the inside and work your way out. Here are some tips to get you started.
1. Get rid of all negativity
Turn off the news! The news is 99% negative and they continually talk about the economy and how it’s getting worse. Stop listening to them. It’s the doom and gloom prophecies that brings ratings to the news so that is what they will continuously tell you. Watch something else or turn the TV off all together.
If there are people in your life who are constantly seeing the glass as half empty than separate yourself from those people as best you can. Limit your time spent with these people as much as possible.
2. Find a supportive environment
Start surrounding yourself with positive people who have what you want to have in your life. If you don’t know any of these people personally than start reading books. Watch uplifting and inspiring movies, attend teleclasses and seminars. Fill yourself up with positive and supportive material.
3. Create a vision of what you want
The more you focus on what you want the more you move yourself in the direction of what you want. Create a list of everything that you want in your life. Make it as detailed as possible. What would it be like to live your ideal day. What would you do? Who would you be? What would you have? The more detailed you are the better. Visualize yourself living this ideal day regularly, at least twice a day.
4. Shift your limiting beliefs
Learn how to shift any beliefs that conflict with what you want. There are many resources out there to do this. Meditation, affirmations, Psych-K, counseling, NLP, hypnosis, Reiki. Start getting rid of the beliefs that got you where you are so you can replace them beliefs that support you in getting where you want to go.
5. Watch your language
You get what you say! Whether it’s something you say to yourself in your head or something you say out loud, make sure you are saying things that are in alignment with what you want. You won’t be creating abundance if your constantly complaining that your broke. Be very aware of your words and start creating abundance in your life today.
